Vegas Outfits for Curvy Bodies: What Actually Worked in the Heat
What to wear
Las Vegas outfit inspiration
I always have the most fun putting together outfits for Vegas, it’s the one place where more really is more. It’s a chance to play, get creative, and wear things I might not reach for on a regular day. From bold prints to breezy layers and unexpected accessories, I packed a little bit of everything on this trip, and yes, comfort was still a priority (because sweating through sequins is not the vibe).
Here’s what I actually wore, loved, and would pack again, and if you’re looking for more outfit inspo, I’ve saved even more of my past Vegas looks to this LTK collection.
Let’s start with a few Things I’ve Learned…
Don’t Just Check the Weather,
Check the Full Forecast
Yes, Vegas is hot. But don’t let that desert sun fool you, mornings and nights can be weirdly chilly, especially if you’re not there in peak summer. I’ve definitely made the mistake of packing like it’s 100 degrees 24/7 and ended up freezing my butt off. Between breezy evenings and icy-cold casino air conditioning, a light jacket, blazer or sweater is always a smart move.
Let what you’re doing
dictate what you’re wearing
One thing about Vegas? There are no fashion rules. At any given moment, you’ll see someone in full glam next to someone in flip-flops and a wrinkled T-shirt, and both are living their best lives. Poolside at 2 p.m.? I saw full bronzed glam and people in college tees nursing frozen margaritas. Same energy at dinner. So instead of trying to match some imaginary Vegas dress code, dress for what you’re doing and what makes you feel good. Sequins or sweats, anything goes, as long as you’re feeling yourself.
Prioritize Comfortable Shoes,
or at least comfortable heels
Even if you think you won’t be walking much… you absolutely will. Just getting from our room to dinner felt like a mini workout. Between navigating massive hotel layouts, casino detours, and the occasional “let’s just pop in here real quick,” your steps add up fast. I do wear heels in Vegas, but only ones I know can handle the miles. Prioritize comfort, even in your dressier shoes. Trust me, you don’t want to be barefoot on the Strip by 9 p.m.
Your Style, Your Rules
Vegas fashion has no rules. I’ve seen everything from sparkly ball gowns to sweats and sneakers, and guess what? Everyone looked like they were having a great time. Whether you want to go full glam, keep it casual, or live somewhere in between, just wear what makes you feel like you. That’s the real dress code.
POOLSIDE VIBES
Vegas pool season is a scene, and I mean that in the best way. From barely-there bikinis to full-glam cover-ups, anything goes. What stood out most? Confidence. Everybody, every style, and everyone is just doing their thing. I felt my best in a flattering one-piece with a fun detail, but the real magic is wearing whatever makes you feel amazing.
My tip? Build a poolside look that works beyond the pool. I love tossing on breezy wide-leg pants or a matching cover-up set that I’d be just as comfortable wearing to grab coffee or brunch, which is what I did every day. Effortless, chic, and no need to change. More often than not, you’ll be walking through the hotel lobby or casino to get to the pool, so keep that in mind too!
And if you need help finding your perfect suit? Don’t miss my annual swimwear guide, it’s packed with options I’ve personally tried, from curve-friendly one-pieces to supportive bikinis and size-inclusive brands I swear by.
One of my longtime favorite sunscreens was recently discontinued, so I decided to take a chance on this one, and I’m so glad I did. It ended up being such a hit, our whole group used it (even the pool neighbors borrowed some!), and we finished the entire bottle by the end of the trip. It lives up to the hype, no glitter, just a beautiful, hydrating glow that makes your skin look fresh and feel amazing. For more SPF favorites, check them out here!
evening looks
Vegas nights are made for a bold moment, sequins, feathers, cutouts, whatever makes you feel like the main character. I always use dinner and nights out as an excuse to have fun with my looks, and this trip was no exception.
And yes, we’re talking shoes, because style means nothing if your feet are screaming. The $15 sandals I wore to the concert were shockingly comfy (rare Vegas win), and this pair of heels I brought for dinner? I walked from the room to dinner, drinks, and back without once needing a backup pair. When you find that sweet spot between style and comfort? That’s the Vegas outfit formula. This Trip’s Itinerary:
For this trip, we stayed at The Cosmopolitan, it is still my favorite location on the Strip, even if it’s felt a bit more run-down since MGM took over. We kicked things off with dinner at Amaya, which had a great vibe and reminded me of Javier’s. Brunches at Overlook Grill were convenient for pool days (we booked daybeds at Boulevard Pool all weekend), and we loved our dinner at Mayfair Supper Club, solid food, fun entertainment, and a classic Vegas experience. Saturday’s brunch at Cheri Rooftop was another standout, and while our friends hit up The Magician’s Study, Brian and I went to Kenny Chesney at the Sphere, I expected it to be overhyped, but it was seriously incredible. We wrapped with dinner at Bazaar Mar, which was fine food-wise, but the location inside the Aria Shops felt a little off.
