YOUR FALL UNDERGARMNET REFRESH

Fall is the perfect time to take stock of what’s actually in your undergarment drawer. Just like we swap sandals for boots and sundresses for sweaters, our foundations need a little refresh heading into the cooler months. From everyday panties and supportive bras to those little tools that make getting dressed so much easier, I’ve rounded up the pieces I’m reaching for (and loving) right now. Some are brand-new finds, others are longtime staples that have earned permanent status in my drawer. And if you still haven’t been fitted for a properly fitting bra, or maybe it’s been a while, let me kindly remind you that we are constantly evolving and changing, our bra sizes do too! My guide on What to Expect at a Bra Fitting will make sure you’re setting yourself up for success by going to a legitimate place for a foolproof experience.

Everyday Foundations

Soma Vanishing Edge Laceback Panties - The rare combo of pretty + practical. These panties are actually seamless (yes, even with the lace!), so they disappear under leggings, thin pants, or dresses, all while still feeling gorgeous. Truly the best of both worlds.

Elomi Nerina Bra – A perfect blend of support and style. The Nerina is beautiful enough to feel special but still practical for everyday wear. It comes in both an unlined plunge (lightweight, natural look) and a molded cup (smooth and structured), so you’re covered no matter what’s in your wardrobe rotation. See more of my everyday bra favorites here!

CAKES Nipple Covers – The true MVP when you need coverage without bulk. CAKES offers a range of shapes, shades, and finishes, so you can pick what works best for your outfit, from lightweight, grippy styles to stickier, all-day options. They’re seamless, reusable, and a staple under fall sweaters or silky tops.

Check out my Nipple Cover 101 Guide for the full breakdown, and don’t forget code CARALYNM on CAKES!

Shapermint Empower Shorts – These are the undergarment equivalent of your favorite supporting role, they don’t steal the spotlight, but they make everything else look better. The Empower Shorts are smooth without feeling suffocating, stay put (no rolling down!), and are thin enough to wear under flowy jumspsuits, dresses, or skirts. Think of them as your go-to everyday shorts when you want just a little extra polish.

Shapermint Cami - The cami is a layering hero for fall and winter. It’s lightweight and seamless, so you can wear it under cardigans, blazers, or even chunky knits without bulk. It gives you gentle smoothing through the torso, plus it’s long enough to stay tucked in. I love this one for days when I want an easy base layer that adds confidence and warmth without feeling like “shapewear.”

Shapermint All Day Every Day Shaper Panty - These are the definition of everyday smoothing. Available in both high-rise and mid-rise, they’re designed to give you a little more tummy control without feeling restrictive. The sleek fit makes them perfect under pants and jeans with no digging or rolling, just a smooth, confident base you can actually wear all day.

Don’t forget code CARALYN20 sitewide at Shapermint!

Spanx Super Sculpt Total Contour - Did you know Spanx now offers up to five levels of compression? This is the most supportive collection I’ve ever tried, perfect for when you really want everything smoothed and snatched. The Super Sculpt comes in a high-waisted short, cami, or open-bust bodysuit, so you can pick the style that works best for your outfit. Bonus: you can shop Spanx by support level on their site to find exactly what you need.

Don’t forget to use code CARALYN15 on your first purchase at Spanx!

Seasonal Picks

Classic Tights - Not all tights are created equal. I’ve been wearing this same pair since 2019 (yes, really). They’re practically indestructible and truly an essential for fall/winter layering. Invest in a good pair once, and they’ll last you season after season. They are available in other shades on their site directly here. Looking for something more sheer? Try these ones (use CARALYN15 on your first order at Spanx).

Thermal or Fleece-Lined Tights - Extend the life of your skirts and dresses into the colder months with a pair of fleece-lined or thermal tights. They give you warmth without the bulk, so you can actually enjoy wearing your favorite outfits year-round. These are available up to 3X.

Bra Wash Bag + Gentle Detergent - Delicate fabrics need a little extra TLC, especially with the constant wear they get in cooler months. I swear by Forever New, a surfactant-based wash. Unlike traditional detergents (like Tide) that can break down elastic and fibers over time, surfactants gently lift dirt and oils without stripping the fabric. Pair it with a mesh wash bag to protect lace and straps in the machine. For more on bra washing, be sure to check out my previous guide!

Wool or Cashmere Sock Liners - The unsung heroes of fall/winter footwear. These thin but cozy liners add warmth inside boots without creating extra bulk or messing with the fit. I like this set or this set!

Tools & Tricks

Micro Stitch Tool – An absolute lifesaver for securing necklines, gaping button-downs, or hemlines that just won’t behave. A must-have in any fashion emergency kit. See more of my fashion emergency essentials here.

Tape Measure – Simple but essential. Keep one in your drawer to track body changes season-to-season and to make sure you know your current size before shopping.

Zipper Pull Tool - Say goodbye to the dislocate-your-shoulder method. This little gadget makes zipping up fitted dresses or outerwear effortless, no extra hands required. See my video tutorial on how it works here

Static Guard – A fall/winter essential. One quick spritz saves you from clingy layers, shocking knits, and flyaway moments. Don’t forget to check out my static-reducing video for more tips! In a pinch, you can also use hair spray, a dryer sheet, or even wet hands!

Good to have extras

Double-Sided Fashion Tape - One of those little tools that saves the day. Perfect for tricky necklines, securing wrap tops, or even keeping scarves and collars in place. See my blog post on seven ways to use it here

Lint Roller (or Mini Travel One) - Wool, knits, and darker fabrics are magnets for fuzz in the fall and winter. A lint roller - especially a travel-sized one - is a quick fix to keep your outfits looking polished.

Deodorant Removing Sponge - Surprisingly handy when pulling knits on and off. It quickly lifts those pesky white marks, but here’s a tip: in a pinch, you can also just rub the fabric against itself, and it’ll usually come right off.

Hand Warmers / Toe Warmers - Not technically undergarments, but worth keeping in your drawer once the temperatures drop. Slip them into gloves or boots on freezing days for an instant dose of warmth.

Thanks for reading!

At the end of the day, your undergarment drawer should work for you, making it easier to get dressed, feel supported, and actually enjoy your clothes. I hope this roundup gives you a few new ideas (and maybe reminds you of a few essentials worth restocking). As always, I’ll keep updating you when I find things that truly earn a spot in my drawer. In the meantime, tell me in the comments: what’s one fall/winter staple you can’t live without?

xx CMK
